A was able to remember becsületes fairly quickly since honest is something I believe in.

Word of the day

As I have learned from traveling to Hungary and reading about Hungarians they are very "büszke".

Today's word is büszke - proud

Ask about their history. They will tell it with büszkeség (pride). Ask of bor (wine) and there is no other. When I found out I was part magyar (Hungarian) I felt nagyon büszke (very proud).

Vagytok büszkék
? (Are you proud?)

Beszél

Todays word: beszél - to speak.

I have had to use this word before when in Hungary. Beszél angolul? Do you speak English?
Depending on how far out of Budapest's center we are I get "nem". Sometimes followed with: Beszél magyural? Do you speak English? "Egy kicsit. Tanulom."  A little. I am learning.

Yes, tanulom.

Word or Phrase of the Day

I have decided that in addition to my regular studies I am going to add a word or phrase a day to my vocabulary. I will try to post this daily to the blog in addtion to my somewhat regular updates. Is there a word or phrase you feel is a must know early in this process? Let me know and I will use it.

Today I will use:

mennyi - how much.
mennyibe kerülnek ezek? How much are these?
mennyibe kerül? - How much does this cost?

The easy thing about mennyi is that it sounds like the Enlish many, which can be how much also...
